Frequently Asked Questions About UAE Golden Visa
The UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residency program introduced by the United Arab Emirates. It provides a 10-year renewable visa to certain categories of expatriates: investors, entrepreneurs, professional talents, researchers in various fields of knowledge, and bright students.
The purpose of this visa is to attract and retain high-level talent and investment in the country, contributing to the nation’s development and growth. Holders of the Golden Visa are allowed to reside in the UAE along with their families, which includes spouse and children. They can also sponsor visas for their parents and siblings.
The Golden Visa does not require the individual to have Emirati sponsorship, and it does not mandate the holder to reside in the UAE for a minimum period of time for the visa to remain valid. This provides flexibility for individuals who may need to travel frequently or live outside the UAE for periods of time.
The visa comes with numerous benefits including the ability to work or study anywhere in the UAE without needing a national guarantor, access to world-class health and education services, and the option to start your own business in the UAE.

Apply through ICA or GDRFA:
- ICA: The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) allows online applications only. You can apply through their website or mobile app.
- GDRFA: The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) allows both online and offline applications. For online applications, visit their website. For offline applications, visit the nearest GDRFA office.
Submit Application and Pay Fees: After filling out the application form and attaching the necessary documents, submit your application. You will also need to pay the application fees. The cost will depend on the type of visa you are applying for.
Wait for Approval: Once your application has been submitted and the fees have been paid, you need to wait for approval. The processing time can vary and may take several weeks.
Visa Issuance: If your application is approved, your visa will be issued and sent to you. You can then use this visa to enter or stay in the UAE.
The cost of applying for a UAE Golden Visa depends on the category of the visa and whether the applicant is inside or outside the UAE at the time of application. Here is a general breakdown:
The six-month entry permit, which initiates the Golden Visa application process, has been updated to AED 1,250. This charge includes an AED 1,000 issuance fee and an AED 100 application fee.
If you’re applying from within the UAE, the 10-year Golden Visa will cost between AED 2,800 and AED 3,800.
For applicants outside of the UAE, the cost of the Golden Visa will be higher, but exact figures are not provided in the search results.
Additional costs include fees for a medical check (AED 700) and Emirates ID (AED 1,153)
The UAE Golden Visa, which is a long-term residency visa, has a validity of 10 years. It was initially offered with a 5-year validity, but the UAE government later extended it to 10 years to attract more foreign investors and talent.
Golden Visa holders are entitled to a multiple-entry visa for a period of 6 months to complete the Golden Visa procedures. This means that they can enter and leave the UAE multiple times within this six-month period while their Golden Visa application is being processed.
Additionally, Golden Visa holders are allowed to stay outside of the UAE for more than 6 months without their visa status being affected. This is particularly beneficial for businessmen and professionals who may need to travel frequently.
After the Golden Visa expires, holders have a grace period of 6 months to either renew their visa, get a different type of residence visa, or leave the country. During this grace period, no overstay fines are applied.
However, if the Golden Visa holder fails to renew or cancel the visa of their dependents, the dependents could be liable to pay an overstay fine. It’s important for Golden Visa holders to ensure that all visas linked to them are properly managed to avoid any penalties.
